Project Maverick: the extraordinary floating showroom by Quick Group

Eight months of hard work and borderline challenges separated the start of this vessel’s refitting from its presentation at the recent Genoa Boat Show.Project Maverick by Quick has been completed, and was exhibited at the boat show in the Ligurian capital a few weeks ago, turning heads among the many spectators present.

A titanic project that many thought “impossible” but that the Quick Group managed to complete from the beginning of the year to today. Project Maverick is the complete refitting of a 1996 Falcon 80 motoryacht, which now, in all its renewed glory, will serve as the brand’s demonstration, research and development boat.

“Maverick is a unique project in which the Quick Group has invested, and I personally with great, great enthusiasm – said Michele Marzucco, CEO of Quick – Seeing the refitting realized in its entirety with all our products installed on board has been exciting. Even more so is the integration with the systems of excellent partner brands that believed in this great challenge.”

The layout of the boat has been radically transformed by Aldo Parisotto founder of Parisotto + Formenton Architetti so as the boat function as an ideal motor yacht to accommodate more guests, both media and clients.

Spaces are open, with a porthole window between the salon and the galley that provides a feel of space continuity and open salon. Among the structural changes, the fly deck has also been restyled by removing the tender crane and creating a lare outdoor lounge area.

“When they presented Project Maverick to me, I decided to come on board immediately. The theme of reusability, both in terms of materials and evocative lines, was very stimulating, as was rethinking of the layout to make onboard circulation more fluid and participatory”, stated Aldo Parisotto, architect of Project Maverick.

However, the most complex thing about the whole refitting effort we have to focus on is the extraordinary work of interconnecting all the Quick systems. In addition to Quick’s chain counter, remote controls, inverter, battery chargers, water heaters and Quick Nautical Network, the main onboard systems include: MC2 Seacentric System, XR6 windlass, BTAC 300S thruster propellers, Arcipelago Capsule Collection lighting and the platform by Sanguineti Chiavari.

MC2 Seacentric System is the Quick Group’s revolutionary stabilization system that includes 3 products: Viator fins,Intercepta trim tabs and Quick Gyro stabilizer. Powered by synchronous electric motors, Viator fins are very quiet but also extremely compact, allowing them to be easily retrofitted on yachts like the Falcon 80. The Intercepta trim tabs are a plug-and-play system that thanks to proprietary software is completely integrated with the fins to read the hull dynamics and coordinate movementsin varying sea conditions. Combined with the well-established Quick Gyro, this system provides full control of on-board stabilization even in variable sea conditions.

The XR6 windlass is the new model that, installed on Project Maverick, expands the historic range of XROY windlasses with AC, DC electric motor and hydraulic motors. The BTAC 300S thruster propellers installed on the Falcon 80 are synchronous, double propellers installed that represent the first step towards a technological revolution of the BTAC range equipped with asynchronous motors.

For the on-board lighting, being a floating showroom, Project Maverick underwent a real complete redesign of the lighting points, which, thanks to architect Aldo Parisotto, took an important position in renovating interiors and exteriors. The numerous LED light sources are powered by integrated high-efficiency drivers, with a lifespan of several thousand hours.

The hydraulic stern platform handling system (pantograph movement type) by Sanguineti Chiavari allows the automatic lifting, hauling and launching of the tender. The structure is entirely made of anodized aluminum and comes complete with a locking system in the fully raised position to guarantee security even in the event of a system failure.

Project Maverick is therefore a boat that encompasses the excellence of the marine accessories industry to provide an unprecedented yachting experience for clients, industry professionals and journalists.

Crucial help in the realization of the project can be attributed to Simrad Yachting, the main partner of this venture, which provided all the instrumentation on board.

We have worked side by side to equip the Falcon 80 with the best of our instrumentation, ensuring efficient and high-performance integration of our technologies for boaters – said Gabriele Gatta, General Manager of Navico Connect EMEA Project Maverick has been another successful testbed, a completely renovated boat made incredibly advanced in terms of onboard technology. It is a source of pride to make the expertise of our Navico Connect team, specialized in onboard integration, available for this project”. “Project Maverick is further confirmation of a multi-year and fruitful partnership with Quick Spa,” added Roberto Sesenna, Team Lead of Navico Group Italy.

Project Maverick is a great success for Quick, which defied the race of time by closing after only eight months on a refitting project that captivated the 63rd Genoa International Boat Show and everyone in attendance, once again confirming how much the Quick Group is investing and pushing to offer only the best in the world of marine accessories.
