Captains and Crew

ItalianYachtMasters: the captains of the future are Made in Italy

Great attendance at the second edition of the Argentario meets Yachting conference which, organized by ItalianYachtMasters and Associazione Marittimi Argentario, focused on the themes of superyacht jobs and safety at sea with top-level professional figures.

ItalianYachtMasters was created with the aim to constitute a community that allows, in an increasingly global and constantly evolving market, the sharing of skills and knowledge in order to uniquely and internationally train the captains who will then take the helm of both important recreational and non-recreational vessels, thus representing the values of the Association.

During the symposium, which also celebrated the Association’s 10th anniversary,it was emphasized that being part of ItalianYachtMasters also means being part of an elite group of Captains, capable of both spreading the values of the best yachting culture, and of dealing professionally and efficiently with all kinds of difficulties on board, without ever losing the objective of giving unforgettable moments to their owners.

We have more than one hundred members and the selections to enter are becoming increasingly tight. – proudly commented Gino Battaglia, President of ItalianYachtMasters, during the event – Our aim is to provide the market with truly prepared figures, who know how to enhance their work and the Italian character that distinguishes them, being available and above all able to solve any kind of problem on board. The Association was created to learn, we still have a long way to go, but our role is important, because it allows us to export expertise and professionalism around the world through the uniqueness of our Captains”.

The opening day was attended by the main sponsors, which recently made it possible to donate a diagnostic unit to the Savona Hospital, and some new sponsors were also presented, including Besenzoni, the brand specializing in marine gangways, and Quick Spa, an international leader in the production and marketing of boating equipment.

“We have chosen to be sponsors,’ commented Giorgio Besenzoni, CEO of the company of the same name – because we believe it is important that captains and owners know the values of our company and the absolute quality that distinguishes our products”.

This concept was also expressed by Michele Marzullo of the renowned Italian multinational Quick Spa: “Our company was estabilished in 1992 with the aim of introducing high quality components to the boating industry. Today, we have more than 300 employees, one office in the US and another in the UK, and we train our staff with these values everywhere. That is why we are here today“.

The event was moderated by Luca D’AmbrosioEditor-in-chief of The International Yatching Media, who delved into the topics of crew training and changes in the boating industry, thanks to the participation of the ITS Caboto Academy Association, the ISYL Foundation, the Instituto Tecnico Nautico of Porto Santo Stefano and USLAC, signatory of the CCNL Recreational Seafarers

“We have been existing for 10 years, offering professionalising tertiary training – commented Clemente Borrelli, General Manager of ITS Caboto Academy – 100% of our students go directly from our courses to the world of work, with which we have a constant dialogue. The training of our young people is crucial, not only the technical one but, above all, the human one, which is important in order not to disregard the values of commitment, professionalism and passion’”.

The mission of ItalianYachtMasters is very important since it represents a noble aim that has brought together leading personalities, professionals and students at the Argentario: in short, the past, present and future of a driving sector for the Italian industry, which places the country as a world leader.

A great honour, but at the same time a great responsibility that ItalianYatchMasters, and all the people present at this important two-day event, carry around the world with pride and passion.

Appointment for next year then, aware that this 2023 will be an important year, where as always, it will be crucial to be able to make a difference.
