43m full-custom explorer yacht Acala launched at Cantiere delle Marche

Cantiere delle Marche announces the launch of Acala, a 43m explorer superyacht commissioned by a repeat client of the Italian shipyard who had previously owned a Darwin 102, with which he has sailed extensively in the Pacific and Atlantic.

Acala: design

Acala is an explorer yacht reflecting the tradition of Cantiere delle Marche. The new addition marks the first collaboration with the Argentinean Varazze-based designer and naval architect Horacio Bozzo who handled the eye-catching exterior design. But Acala has also reconfirmed the presence of Sergio Cutolo – Hydro Tec, at the helm of the naval architecture design of the Italian shipyard. The luxury and relaxing interior design, instead, is by Mexican architect Simon Hamui. This multidisciplinary approach allowed for a total level of customization.

The aim of our design work is the pleasure of seeing the owner’s desires taking shape and recognizing himself in it”- says Horacio Bozzo – Designing an explorer for an experienced owner who grew up around boats and understands yachting perfectly, is very gratifying, We started from a white piece of paper and brainstormed a lot with him to fulfil the whole family needs.”

Layout

Three decks and a sundeck: these are the areas dedicated to the cabins, which can sleep a total of 12 guests across six cabins. Owners and their families will be able to enjoy the full-beam main deck from amidships to the bow. The large, comfortable VIP cabins are located on the starboard side and enjoy natural light and a view of the sea, in keeping with the nautical design trend that is moving in the direction of ever greater contact with nature.

The Main Deck, where three VIPs and the master cabin are located, is characterized by large windows whose uprights do not join the superstructure, thus providing great light and a breathtaking view of the sea. The two twin cabins are located on the lower deck. On the Main Deck there is also a panoramic salon, of limited dimensions, which has the peculiarity of opening onto a very large cockpit, equipped for moments of conviviality and dining, where there is also a swimming pool and large spaces dedicated to relaxation and sunbathing.

The Upper Deck houses a large panoramic skylounge, perfect for both conversation and dining for more formal occasions. The Sun Deck is partially shaded by the hard top and hosts a second swimming pool, a dining area and a living room. Particularly functional is the choice of a dumbwaiter that connects all the decks. From the Lower Deck, where the galley is located, the dumbwaiter goes up to the Upper Deck, facilitating the work of the crew and giving guests and owners more privacy. The crew has five cabins, a dinette adjacent to the spacious galley and other rooms. The captain has a cabin on the Upper Deck next to the helm station.

MY Acala: Performance

Featuring a steel hull, aluminium superstructure, 62,400l fuel tanks and powered by two efficient Caterpillar C32 Acert 746 kW engines, Acala has a range of over 5,000 nautical miles at a speed of 10 knots, and a top speed of 14 knots.

In other words, she has all the credentials of an explorer yacht that wants to reach the most remote and unspoilt areas of the oceans without haste

Cantiere delle Marche and custom production

The strategy to dedicate one slot per year to fully custom projects proved to be successful and extremely important for the technical growth of the shipyard – says CDM CEO Ennio Cecchini – Building these one-off vessels is a great opportunity for our team to learn something new and to work out of its comfort zone”. Acala’s imposing and elegant lines reveal harmonious and balanced geometries, providing generous and extremely luxurious spaces. But Acala is also expression of a refined luxury and perhaps for this very reason wonderfully intangible, resolving itself in the impalpable sensation of living without the oppression of time.
